Exploring competitor landscapes & its people

This journey began with surveying expecting parents & current parents to uncover their needs. The gaps in the market helped me determine ideas that could provide value to users.

To adhere to a strict timeline, I needed to narrow down feature choices to what would be most feasible to launch with.

After measuring my ideas against constraints, I focused on highest impact, low effort to medium-high effort tasks to showcase the breadth of Giftstart to investors.

Customization of cash funds were too much added development complexity that'd overshoot the project budget and delay the site launch.

❌ Due to constraints of Shopify, we encountered challenges related to privacy when considering populating recipient addresses during checkout. Additionally, there were difficulties in tracking gift notes.

Due to constraints of Shopify, we encountered challenges related to privacy when considering populating recipient addresses during checkout. Additionally, there were difficulties in tracking gift notes.

The project took a different course after it became evident that Shopify's native features were not adequate to meet the client's evolving needs.

I went back to the drawing board to reassess features & their impact, to find a happy medium for engineers & our vision.

Tailwind (code-ready elements) was discovered to meet enough of our design needs & utilized them to reduce development effort to keep client budget on track.

Wireframes were revamped according to our altered scope for improved user flows & implementation.

Giftstart wanted to be perceived as a reliant and approachable tool. Our logo creation and skinning aimed to communicate a sense of sophistication, warmth and welcoming.

Welcoming a new born is typically a stressful time, so the visual identity leaned towards a calm color palette to reduce stress.

In addition I wanted customers to feel that the interface was exciting, classy, & convenient to use
